FAQs

How do I know if Part-Time Pros is a fit for me? If you answer “Yes” to all of the questions below, you might be a Part-Time Pro!

  • Are you seeking less than full-time work (contract, part-time or job share) and/or want more flexibility in a work schedule?
  • Do you have several years of successful, professional work experience and a college degree?
  • Is your experience in a core business area (e.g. accounting, advertising, finance, human resources, law, marketing, project management, public relations, purchasing, sales, training, technical writing, etc.)?

Will this cost me anything?

No, our Part-Time Pros never pay us anything for our services (all of our fees are paid by employers). We require that you complete an on-line application and we will request a face-to-face interview prior to submitting your resume to any employer.

Do you operate like a staffing agency?

Yes, our business model is similar to a staffing agency, but our differences are as follows:

  • When employers come to us seeking to hire part-time professionals, they know they are getting a very personal approach. We currently have a 98% hire rate on our temporary to hire professionals and in order to protect that statistic we take every job order and every match personally. The fit has to be a fit on the professional’s side and the employer’s side.
  • Our candidates have significant professional work experience and positions we deal with typically require college degrees.
  • We primarily deal with positions that involve flexible work arrangements such as contract, part-time, or job share situations. We will stretch beyond this for some clients who have asked us to assist with some full-time positions.
  • In addition to helping employers meet their staffing needs, we also seek to educate them about the evolving workplace trends, helping them identify ways they can better utilize and benefit from flexible work arrangements.
  • Our positions range from clerical to highly skilled executive.

What are the steps to becoming a potential Part-Time Pro?

Step 1: Read our FAQs for Job Seekers.

Step 2: Create a resume if you do not already have one.

Step 3: Complete our on-line application and attach your resume- please do not try to e-mail recruiter or managers directly, this will only slow down your application process.

What happens once I submit my information to Part-Time Pros?

Once you’ve completed the on-line application, we will have the preliminary information we need from you. If we need additional information from you or if we identify a potential position for you, we will be in touch. If we get close to a potential match, you’ll be asked to come into our office for a face to face interview, submit references, and sign some additional documents.

If I am entered into your professional database, what should my expectations be about gaining employment through you?

The best thing to keep in mind is that the number of professionals in our database will always be greater than the number of positions employers have asked us to work on. That is the nature of this type of business. The difference in numbers is especially true for our niche of part-time, given the fact that there is a much higher demand for part-time on the part of professionals than on the part of employers. If you are serious about landing a job, Part-Time Pros should be one of many places where you submit your resume.

Can you help me with my resume?

Although we do not provide resume writing as a service, we do have connections with companies who can. Please feel free to contact our office for a list of these connections.

If I am connected with an employer, who would I be working for and in what capacity?

It depends on the situation. We let the professional and the employer work out the type of arrangement that is most suitable for them. Some employers choose to hire a professional directly while others may chose to have them as a Part-Time Pros employee for a “test” period to ensure it is a good fit. In addition, we place many professionals in contract positions which may be for a few weeks up to a few years. In these situations we typically have them as a Part-Time Pros employee. We provide full payroll services for clients and professionals.

Do I get to meet and talk to employers before I accept a job?

Yes, we would never submit your resume to an employer without first discussing a position with you and getting your approval, unless you have directed us to do different. If the employer is interested in your qualifications, we then coordinate the meeting between you and the employer. In addition, we sometimes do not receive feedback from clients regarding why they are interested or not interested in some resumes. We will attempt to get as much feedback as possible but oftentimes this is impossible.

If I’m hired directly by an employer, will they offer benefits?

Whether an employer offer benefits will depend on the employer's particular policies; some employers offer benefits for employees who work less than full-time and some don’t.

What are my references asked?

References are only secured once you come in for a face to face interview. We ask for a minimum of 3 professional references. We urge all professionals to contact references prior to us contacting them to notify them that we will be calling because we will call them within 48 hours of you coming in to interview with us. It is a poor reflection on you when your references say something along the lines of “Oh, I did not know he/she was looking for work or I wonder why they listed me as a reference”. If professional’s references are negative, it is highly unlikely that the professional will get an “active” status in our database. At Part-Time Pros our people are the product so we must do our due diligence to screen professionals to the best of our ability.
